PPE — personal protective equipment
PPE (personal protective equipment, NL PBM, FR EPI) is the list of protective equipment a technieker must have before starting an intervention: safety boots, gloves, hearing protection, fall arrest, and whatever else your own risk assessment requires.
Service Suite does three things here: it determines what a job needs, it lets the technieker confirm they have it, and it stops the work when a critical item is missing.
How the list is built
Section titled “How the list is built”You do not maintain a list per job. You set rules, and the order inherits what those rules demand.
-
Rules add up. The customer, the site, the intervention type, the asset and the contract may each require PPE. Everything applicable is merged.
-
The list is frozen onto the service order. From that moment it is a snapshot: later changes to a rule no longer silently alter a running job.
-
The planner reviews it. They may add. Removing is possible only with a reason, and that reason is kept.
-
The technieker confirms on site in the app: Available, Damaged or Missing.
The PPE catalogue: each item described once, with whether it is critical.
Critical versus ordinary
Section titled “Critical versus ordinary”Every catalogue item carries one decisive property: is it critical?
| Ordinary PPE | Critical PPE | |
|---|---|---|
| Technieker reports Missing | Recorded as an issue | Start Work is refused |
| Technieker reports Damaged | Recorded as an issue | Start Work is refused |
| Visible to the planner | Yes | Yes, and in Critical PPE missing |
Who does what
Section titled “Who does what”| Role | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Manager | Sets the catalogue and the rules: what is needed, and what is critical. Follows up Expiring PPE. |
| Planner / dispatcher | Reviews the list before the day starts. Adds what the situation demands. Sees immediately which jobs are blocked. |
| Technieker | Confirms on site what they actually carry. Reports Damaged or Missing honestly. |
Clearing the block
Section titled “Clearing the block”A blocked job is not cleared by deleting the report. It is cleared because the equipment is there and the technieker checks it again.
-
The technieker fetches the missing or replacement item.
-
They set the line back to Available in the app.
-
The status follows immediately and the work can start.
The original issue stays in the history. That is deliberate: the record is not rewritten because the problem was later solved.
Each check shows progress, open issues and who confirmed.
What you find in the menu
Section titled “What you find in the menu”Under Dashboard → Safety:
| Menu | For |
|---|---|
| PPE Checks | All checks, with progress and status |
| PPE Issues | Everything reported damaged or missing |
| Critical PPE missing | The issues that stop work |
| Blocked by PPE | The interventions themselves, ready to follow up |
| PPE Assigned | What has been issued to which technieker |
| Expiring PPE | What needs replacing soon |
| PPE Catalog | The protective equipment itself |
| PPE Rules | Who or what requires which PPE |
What this deliberately is not
Section titled “What this deliberately is not”Not a procurement, stock, sizing or certification system. The question it answers is: was the required equipment present at the moment the work began, and can we show it?
